Wallpaper has come back in a really interesting way. It’s no longer just decorative — it’s become a way to bring pattern, texture, and atmosphere into a space quite directly.

From hand-printed papers and natural fibres to metallic finishes and large-scale murals, there’s a lot more freedom in what can be done with it now.

But installation is what makes the difference.

Even the best wallpaper can lose its effect if it’s not installed well. Seams become visible, patterns drift slightly, and the surface stops feeling cohesive. When it’s done properly, everything settles into place and the wall reads as one continuous surface.

At Venetian Works, we always start with the wall itself. We make sure it’s smooth, clean, and properly prepared for the material being used. Any imperfections are taken care of at this stage so they don’t show through later.

From there, it’s about planning the layout. Patterns are checked, and the design is mapped out so it flows naturally through the room. With larger repeats or custom murals, small adjustments make a big difference.

Each panel is then placed carefully so the pattern aligns properly and the surface feels continuous rather than broken up.

Different materials need different handling — grasscloth, silk, embossed papers, and printed murals all behave slightly differently, and we adjust the approach accordingly.

Large panoramic murals are especially precise. Each section needs to line up exactly so the image reads properly once it’s all installed.
